I started giving small chats to clubs a few years ago and as time has gone on it has been something that has brought me in front of audiences and groups in places I previously didn’t imagine speaking.
It is great to be able to talk to people about how fortunate I have been to experience surfing and show them what it is like to be in the ocean when it is at its wildest.
I have a range of talks I give to various groups and individuals.
Business seminar
I custom build these seminars to suit your corporation, business etc.
I point out similarities between what you do in your life or in business and what I do in big wave surfing. The team work aspect of what I do can be literally life or death and there is no better way to instil the importance of good team selection and skill enhancement in your employees or staff than to see team work in action and on the edge. The situations and scenarios I have been in and the goals and personal achievements I have made have been largely dependent upon the team of people around me.
I will show and explain who I work with and how vital we are to each others enjoyment, success and most importantly safety. You will hear stories of honour and loyalty that will literally blow your mind. You will see how much we rely on each other and ourselves in terrifying places and situations completely unimaginable to the onlooker. I will explain how I handle the unknown, deal with the fear of failure, injury or death and relate my experiences to yours and what you are trying to achieve.
Photo and Film Lectures
I give lectures to groups such as university students, outdoor pursuit centres, climbers, canoe clubs, surf clubs, societies etc on big wave surfing in general or on specific missions I have been involved with. The lectures involve photographs and video as well as first hand accounts of stories from the beginning right up to today.
