Monthly Archives: October 2008
Al and Cotty kicked off the winter season with a session at Mullaghmore Head on Friday 10 October 2008. The forcast was for swell in the 5m range but the true swell readings on the wave buoys were much bigger so the boys headed to Mullaghmore for midday after a paddle sesh with Emmet O’doherty and Carl Russell at a secret a frame peak about a kilometer off the coast. The session at Mullaghmore got under way with Al towing Cotty in four consecutive bombs before the team swapped rolls and Cotty pulled Al into a hideous air drop and a few solid monsters. They traded waves and beatings with Fitz and Neil before towing a couple of visiting Hawaiian surfers into a few along with Al’s friend Carl. The session was photgraphed by Roger Sharp of Fins magazine. Check out www.finsmag.com for a gallery of stills from two of the sessions that day.
Nelscott Reef Classic
The waiting period for The Nelscott Reef Classic has just begun so the boys are on constant standy for the call from organiser John Forse. John will call the event ‘on’ when the swell is forcast to reach heights of 40ft plus at the famous Oregon Reef break. The team are training in preparation for the winter in Ireland and the event at Nelscott.
